In 1999, I came to the United States after leaving my beloved Colombia. Subsequently settling down for a time in Florida, California, and New York, I moved back to Florida to be with my family, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Multimedia Journalism, at Florida Atlantic University. Couples, intimate weddings, and small documentary projects were my photography hustle as a recent graduate.
I eventually settled in Miami and moved to worked in production coordination in the music industry for over a decade. As part of job at Midnight Blue Studios in Miami, I had the chance to document all the behind the scenes throughout the years with my camera. Because my family summers in South Florida, the area continues to be part of our lives, and it’s a joy to photograph and connect with new clients there each summer!

I moved to New Jersey in 2011, and while still working remotely as a production coordinator in the music industry, I began to realize how much I missed the creative outlet that photography provided. I started participating in every fine art photography class and workshop that came my way. My 40s have been a journey of studying and exploring photography all over again and reconnecting with who I am and who I’ve always been: a photographer.
In addition to my passion for documentary photography, I’m a bilingual mama sharing my life with my Croatian-American husband. Together, and with the help of my wonderful parents, we are raising two daughters who are my shadows and our everything.
Carolina has an incredible eye for detail and composition. Her images don’t only capture beauty but also the essence of the being. Carolina took photos at my preschool which demonstrates the joy and hard work of children learning through play and relationship building.
